Introducing our department.

The Department of Life Care and Welfare aims to develop welfare professionals with expertise and practical capability in social welfare and life care.

The curriculum covers social welfare, welfare for older adults, child and family welfare, counseling, long-term care, health management, housing welfare, lifetime financial planning and asset management. Through practice-oriented education, students build the professional capabilities required in a super-aged society and in welfare settings.

Through cooperation with social welfare agencies, care facilities for older adults, long-term care institutions and public organizations, the department provides field practicums and employment-linked programs that strengthen students' practical skills and competitiveness.

Introducing Our Department's Distinctive Programs

Distinctive Program

  • Class Schedule Designed for Adult LearnersStudents take five courses (15 credits) per semester: three in-person courses on Saturdays and two online courses during the week. The schedule is designed so that students can continue working while they study.
  • Field Practicums in Welfare SettingsThrough cooperation with social welfare agencies, care facilities for older adults, long-term care institutions and public organizations, the department provides field practicums and employment-linked programs.
  • Broad Curriculum CoverageThe curriculum spans the full range of social welfare, including Introduction to Social Welfare, Social Work Ethics and Philosophy, Human Behavior and Social Environment, and Theories of Social Work Practice.
  • Education for a Super-Aged SocietyThe department concentrates on the practical capabilities a super-aged society requires, including welfare for older adults, long-term care, health management, housing welfare and lifetime financial planning.
