Introducing our department.

The Department of Police Science of University of Dong-A was established in 2021 as the Department of Police and Fire Science to train personnel in the field of public safety with warm and correct values, and was changed to the Department of Police Science in 2023, doing our best to train personnel to lead the police field in the Southeast region.

Our department is making efforts in many fields to train professionals who can protect the lives and properties of citizens through systematic study of theory and practice.

Educational Goals

The educational goal is to develop human resources in the field of public safety, including police and criminal justice.

Introducing Our Department's Distinctive Programs

Distinctive Program

  • Let's make our school safe - Campus Police This program includes crime prevention patrol activities around the school, joint patrol activities in cooperation with the Sahama Police Department, and the production of crime prevention-related content. The program not only reduces the fear of crime in the community, but also strengthens the major skills of participating students.
  • Toward a dream Ready, Set, Go! This program divides the career-related activities of Police Science students into three categories: Ready (Explore), Set (Motivate), and Go (Prepare), and includes special lectures by current officers related to the major, tours of police-related institutions, a physical fitness field, and a mock police test. Through this program, students can improve their understanding of police duties, clarify their career path setting, and cultivate their motivation for learning.

    Golden TimeThis crime profiling circle studies and analyzes various crime cases based on the theory of police science. Activities include discussions and analysis for crime victim prevention.

    Judoing YouThis is a Judo club where you will learn various Judo techniques from professional instructors and exercise together. Through academic activities, you can develop your instantaneous power and physical strength, and strengthen the abilities necessary to become a police officer.

    VorTexThe name "VorTex" means "whirlpool," and the name was chosen with the hope that students will grow up with the physical qualities of a police officer or firefighter, just like a whirlpool. VorTex" is a physical education society that aims to improve the physical fitness of students in the Department of Police Science through various physical education activities in preparation for the evaluation of physical fitness for police and firefighting officials.

    Can graduates of the Police Department take the Police Career Competitive Hiring Exam?

    Yes, you are eligible to apply for the Police Career Competitive Hiring Program if you are enrolled in the Police Department and have completed at least 45 credits of police-related courses (15 courses designated by the Police Department)..

    Will a double major qualify me to take the Career Competitive Hiring exam?

    Double majors are also eligible to take the Career Competitive Employment exam by earning a degree in Police Science. However, as with students in this major, you must complete at least 45 credits of police-related courses (15 courses designated by the Police Department) to be eligible to take the exam for career competitive hiring.

    I would like to know the graduation requirements for the Police Department.

    There are three graduation requirements for the Police Department: submission of a thesis, submission of an approved language transcript in lieu of a thesis, and completion and submission of a certification in lieu of a thesis. Students can graduate if they meet one of the three determined requirements.
