Introducing our department.

The Department of Music at Dong-A University started in December 1966 as the first music department in Busan and Gyeongsangnam-do, and has undergone countless changes and developments until the current framework of the Department of Music was established.

The Department of Music, consisting of two majors, Classical and Practical Music, is striving to develop into a department with diverse colors in harmony with each other.

The classical major includes piano, orchestral music, and voice as detailed majors, while the practical music major is divided into vocal, jazz piano, guitar, bass, drums, saxophone, and practical composition as detailed majors.

Educational Goals

Training of music specialists" equipped with artistic expression, creativity, and skills; "Training of music educators" equipped with character and knowledge to serve the music education industry and society; and "Training of popular music specialists" who can be active in the music industry field, including popular media.

  • Classes optimized for professional musician development, including chamber music and orchestra, piano ensemble and vocal opera classes, practical vocal vocal techniques, vocal styling, chorus-making, R&B ensembles, K-Pop ensembles, computer music production, digital processing, and more
  • Active performance program inside and outside the school, including Freshmen Concert, Excellent Newcomers Concert, Busan Citizens' Orchestra Regular Concert, Dong-A Piano Ensemble Night, Opera Performance and Chorus Regular Concert, Practical Music Regular Concert, etc.

    Can I visit the Department of Music at Dong-A University?

    After signing up for the Admissions Office's Major Experience Program for prospective university students, you can listen to a special lecture by a professor from the department and tour the facilities.

    What facilities does the Department of Music at Dong-A University have?

    A 250-seat professional performance hall with a Steinway piano (Rein Hall on the Ascension Campus), a 32-station i-Mac midi room for composing and recording music, a recording room, individual instruments for violin, cello, flute and other sub-major classes, a major practice room open 24 hours a day, an ensemble room, and more. The school also has an ensemble room and other facilities.

    What are the requirements to be selected for a teaching course in the Department of Music?

    Students who have received an eligibility determination on the teaching aptitude and personality test administered by the Academic Administration Office in the previous academic year, have completed 48 credits through three semesters, and are currently enrolled in their fourth semester may apply (based on the 2022 academic year).
