Dept. of Chinese Studies
Introducing our department.
The Department Chinese Studies is a newly established department that merged the existing Chinese language department and Chinese studies major, and has a wealth of educational know-how and infrastructure.
Based on this, students are required to acquire proficiency in Chinese, which is the basis of Chinese studies, in the first and second years, and are encouraged to cultivate practical proficiency in Chinese by operating exchange student programs with various universities in China and Taiwan at the school and departmental levels.
In addition, in order to understand contemporary China and develop insights into the future of China, the curriculum of regional studies related to Chinese politics, economy, society, culture, and history is built step by step to ensure comprehensive and in-depth learning.
Educational Goals
The department aims to cultivate human resources to lead the coexistence and co-prosperity of Northeast Asia. In order to fulfill these goals, we offer the following programs
1) Localized education through exchanges with China
2) Training Multifunctional human resources to meet social needs
3) Provide training for Chinese professionals in conjunction with on-the-job training.
Introducing Our Department's Distinctive Programs
Distinctive Program
- Semester Abroad ProgramThis program provides students in the Department of Chinese Studies with the opportunity to study abroad for a semester or a year at a local university in China. Students are normally enrolled in the university as normal, receive tuition exemption at the local university, and pay their own dormitory fees or have them waived depending on the agreement.
- Chinese Studies DayOn this day, alumni of the Department of Chinese Studies and current students interact with each other. The alumni of the Department of Chinese Studies impart their job hunting knowledge through special lectures, and the current students promote a sense of belonging to the Department of Chinese Studies through the performance of Goheungcheon (a play in the original Chinese language).
- Cultural TourThis is a two-day, three-night event to get to know Korea better.
