Dept. of Applied Biology

Introducing our department.

The Department of Applied Biology is an advanced field of research and development of applied technologies related to bioengineering and life industries.

Specifically, starting from genes, which are the foundation of bioengineering, the department deals with disciplines related to bioengineering of plants and microorganisms including plant diseases, bioengineering of small animals including insects, and bioenvironmental engineering including pesticide science.

Such applied bioengineering is an important and indispensable field for the life industry and is therefore attracting much attention.

Educational Goals
  • Plant Medicine : Cultivate professionals who can build a sustainable agricultural environment based on biological knowledge, including microbiology and ecology.
  • Insect Industry : Cultivate professionals in the insect biotechnology industry related to the understanding and utilization of insect biofunctions, useful products, and genetic resources.
  • Biochemistry : Cultivate experts in environmental toxicity, food safety, biocontrol, biopesticide development, and pest control technology by introducing environmentally friendly methods.
