Dept. of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering
Introducing our department.
To prepare for the 4th industrial revolution in the shipbuilding/maritime field, the department aims to educate the knowledge and technology required for environmentally riendly/smart ships and marine plant systems, and based on this, to train advanced human resources needed in industry-academia-government research and development of the world's best technology.
The program operates a curriculum that provides selective learning and practical training for majors in subdivided fields, as well as basic skills as engineers, with faculty members with more than 10 years of field experience to produce fusion-type human resources with a focus on practical work.
In addition, we operate programs to strengthen students' employability skills, such as various comparative science special lecture programs and on-site practical training.
Educational Goals
- Education in basic knowledge of engineering and natural science
- Cultivate individuals who can creatively solve practical problems based on sufficient understanding and insight into the basic knowledge related to their major.
- Cultivate active human resources who can respond to the age of internationalization based on a sense of morality and responsibility.
Introducing Our Department's Distinctive Programs
Distinctive Program

Welding Practice Room
Welding Practice Room
- Computer LaboratoryTheoretical and practical education is provided by utilizing various ship design related training programs such as HYSYS, ABAQUS, STAR-CCM+, AutoCAD, etc. to cultivate professional skills with a focus on practical work.
- Welding Practice RoomWelding simulation practice using virtual welding equipment and weld metallurgical microscope is available.
- Comparative Studies ProgramWe are promoting technology and program education required for actual work by detailed field every holiday. (CFE, FEM, structural analysis, process modeling tool education)
- Research Credit ProgramStudents can learn how to apply theories used in industry in the field based on the educational content by carrying out actual projects in the laboratories of each subdivided field. (Fluid/Structure/Materials/Process Systems)
- On-site Training ProgramBased on the theory-based education learned at school, we offer a field-based human resources development program that provides practical education and training at industrial sites during winter and summer vacations.
- Unmanned Vessel Circle ActivitiesLearning about quaternary industry and fusion technology through circle activities for participation in the Unmanned Autonomous Vessel Competition
